With an altitude of approximately 2200 meters, Siang-Lin Elementary School is recognized as the highest elementary school in Taiwan. The school is located in the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, which is situated within the world famous tourist attraction Mt. Alishan. Next to our school, there is a majestic and brilliant temple, So-Jen-Gung. Thousands of pilgrims and sightseers come to visit the temple years by years. You will be amazed to see how close religion and education can be. Being one of the tourist attractions in the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, our school campus is completely open, that means you will not see any fences here. Due to the location of the school, all of our staff lives together in the school accommodation. As a result, we are all like a family. At present, we have 56 elementary school students, 15 kindergarten students, and 19 staff; that make the sum of 90 people in total.

Our library has been computerized and the students enjoy their reading activities there everyday. We also arrange a variety of activities for our students. In 2002, we had a mutual visiting with Jih-Hsin Elementary School in Taipei. Moreover, in the same year we got Grade A in the evaluation of Nutrient Lunch. We also got the Award of Promoter in Consistent Curriculum of Nine Grades together with Grade A in the 2002 island-wide Bird Research. Moreover, our kindergarten was evaluated among the top five in Chiayi County.
